David Z. Rose, MD is a Vascular Stroke Neurologist and Professor at University of South Florida (USF) Morsani College of Medicine. Research and clinical interests: 1) understanding heterogeneity in cardiac monitoring with insertable loop recorders (ILR) or external patches looking for AFib in cryptogenic (unknown) stroke and small- and large-vessel stroke (DIVERT-Stroke study); 2) early use of Direct Oral Anticoagulant (DOAC) in AFib-related stroke (AREST randomized trial); 3) identifying causes of DOAC failure (recurrent stroke in AFib patients prescribed DOAC); 4) evaluating DOAC reversal options for Anticoagulant-associated Intracranial Hemorrhage; and 5) offering left atrial appendage (LAA) closure or exclusion in AFib patients unable to take long-term DOAC. Proponent of stroke risk factor control: hypertension, lipidemia, diabetes, smoking cessation, and diet/lifestyle management including red wine and yellow fruits.
