Dr. Akif Ahmad is a board-certified family medicine physician who has practiced in his medical specialty since 2009. Fluent in English, Hindu and Urdu, Dr. Ahmad earned his medical degree from Dow University of Health Sciences in Pakistan, where he began his medical career after graduating in 2003. He went on to complete his family medicine residency at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Dr. Ahmad has provided comprehensive family medicine care to the Tampa Bay area community since 2015. Before joining Tampa General Medical Group, he treated patients at Evara Health (formerly known as Community Health Centers of Pinellas) in St. Petersburg. Meanwhile, he served as a clinical assistant professor and clinical preceptor for medical students at Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Ahmad was also a clinical preceptor for medical students at the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville after moving to the United States from Pakistan to begin his family medicine career.

Dr. Ahmad is thorough, attentive to his patient's needs/concerns/requests. You are included in your treatment process so you feel heard and seen. He is very courteous, respectful, and detailed oriented.

This was my first experience with Dr. Ahmed and he was very informative and answered all my questions. He was attentive and expressed concern appropriately.

I liked how Dr. Ahmad explained things scientifically. Being neurodivergent, I have to be hit over the head with an explanation, or I don't always understand.
