Dr. Travis Hughes is a fellowship-trained, highly experienced vascular surgeon and assistant professor of vascular surgery at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. He provides comprehensive care for patients with vascular disease, with expertise in the treatment of aortic aneurysms, carotid artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, venous disorders and complex endovascular conditions. Dr. Hughes earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He then completed his general surgery residency and vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Kentucky, where he developed expertise in open and endovascular management of complex vascular disease. Prior to joining USF Health, Dr. Hughes served as assistant professor in the Division of Vascular Surgery at the University of Kentucky Gill Heart & Vascular Institute. During his tenure, he was actively involved in resident education, simulation training and mentoring, earning multiple teaching awards. An active contributor to vascular surgery research, Dr. Hughes has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters addressing innovative approaches to vascular and endovascular care. His research has been presented at national and regional meetings, including the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery and the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery. Dr. Hughes is dedicated to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s individual needs while advancing the field of vascular surgery through clinical excellence, education and research.
