I am a board certified Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) currently practicing in administrative, clinical, and academic roles with the University of South Florida (USF). The AGACNP's population focus includes patients with acute, critical, and/or complex chronic illnesses who may be physiologically unstable, technologically dependent, and highly vulnerable to complications. I earned my doctoral degree in nursing practice (DNP) with a focus on executive leadership from Vanderbilt University in 2017, my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Vanderbilt University in 2016, and my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Emory University in 2013.
In my current position as the Director of Advanced Practice Providers (APP), I oversee all clinical, administrative, and fiscal management components pertaining to nurse practitioners and physician assistants in the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences. I am responsible for recruiting, hiring, supervising, and terminating APP staff and act as liaison between faculty physicians, nursing, revenue cycle staff, access leadership, and other key stakeholders as it relates to overall management and effectiveness of APPs. I participate in all fiscal matters relating to APP resources and am involved in departmental quality improvement, lean projects, and local health policy development. Clinically, I provide direct, independent patient care to hospitalized, acutely ill patients with cardiovascular complaints. In addition to my administrative and clinical roles, I serve as faculty in the MSN program at USF.
As a leader and change agent, it is my goal to advocate for and validate the value of APPs. I strive to enhance collaborative and collegial relationships to provide integrated services, participate in community outreach, increase APP involvement in the USF Colleges of Nursing and Medicine, launch an APP fellowship, participate in quality improvement and scholarly work, and increase APP satisfaction and retention. It is my overarching goal to translate evidence-based knowledge into practice by using nursing and other scientific findings to design programs of care delivery that are locally acceptable, economically feasible, and significantly influence health care outcomes.
