Dr. Elia E. Villalobos Soto is a licensed psychologist who joined the staff of Tampa General Hospital in 2022 to provide specialized cancer care. In her role, Dr. Villalobos provides consultation, assessment, and intervention services to individuals experiencing emotional distress in the context of medical conditions, with a particular focus on breast cancer. Additionally, Dr. Villalobos has experience in conducting pre-surgical psychological evaluations, including assessments for bone marrow and stem cell transplant. Regarding her assessment experience, she completed a master's degree in neuropsychology and behavioral neurology at Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, where she conducted neuropsychological evaluations to a wide range of patients with neurological and comorbid medical conditions. Dr. Villalobos has the added skill of being bilingual and can provide psychological services in Spanish.
Dr. Villalobos received a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Carlos Albizu University after completing a health psychology pre-doctoral internship at Eastern Virginia Medical School/Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Subsequently, she completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology at the University of Florida/UF Health Science Center. Dr. Villalobos completed psychotherapy trainings with Postpartum Support International, which provides her the knowledge and clinical skills in evidence-based treatments for perinatal mood disorders and other women's health issues. She has engaged in research that focused on the promotion of health among vulnerable populations such as women, homeless, and individuals from different ethnic groups. Dr. Villalobos is a member of the Society for Health Psychology and is part of its Dissemination and Communication Committee for the Women's Health Interest Group.
